Donnington 13th & 14th Aug

The weekend of 13th and 14th of August brought round 5 of the MINI CHALLENGE to Donnington Park.  The OX4 car was prepped and ready to go with a few tweaks to the livery after most of the panels had been changed from round 4.

This time Chris Oakman took to the driving seat.  Chris has always been a big fan of the Donnington Circuit, and could not wait to get back out there, since he last raced there in 2010.

Chris carried a good amount of pace during qualifying and put the car in seventh position on the grid for race one.  With the gap between the first seven drivers only around half a second each, this was an excellent achievement for both driver and team.

During race one Chris got a good start and maintained his position throughout the race.  Despite plenty of effort he could not squeeze past Jason Richardson in 6th.

During race two, traffic build up in the first corner off the start allowed Chris to come home 6th, avoiding the trouble and gaining one place on the previous race.

Just as things were going so well with Chris starting on the first row for the third race, a collision with Jason Richardson sent the OX4 car spinning across the track and into the gravel.  Unfortunately for the team the car clipped many other cars in the process causing a large amount of panel damage.  This meant that Chris had to retire from the race.

At lease the car will be looking brand new for the next round, with a new coat of paint all over.  Look forward to seeing you at Anglesey International.
